Custom brass hardware manufacturer: from drawing to solid brass feet, legs and pulls

A furniture maker approached us with three pieces and a short question: which brass components can you make, and what does a one-off and a recurring order cost? This is how a custom brass hardware manufacturer handles that kind of request, step by step.

· Gemixx Exports

Step 1: bespoke brass components start with a sizing sheet

We turn the drawings and reference photos into a sizing document before any price: part by part, with dimensions, quantity per piece, fixings and finish. Each sheet ends with a short "please confirm" list. For this project that covered a ball foot, a tapered leg with an off-centre ball and a horn-shaped drawer pull.

Step 2: confirm what the part has to do

Details a drawing does not show: how the leg fixes to a subframe, the thickness of the timber or drawer front the pull passes through, whether you want screws supplied. For the legs, a fixing plate with countersunk holes and matching screws was the answer.

Step 3: 3D model, then casting weight, then price

We model the part to calculate unit weight and casting weight, which drive material cost. You get sample price, repeat price at your quantity breaks, and tooling cost, each shown separately, so there is no buried development charge.

Step 4: finish for custom brass furniture feet and pulls

Mirror-polished solid brass with a protective lacquer is the usual request for furniture. Tell us if you want an aged or satin finish instead. Finish is chosen before sampling so that the sample shows exactly what production will look like.

Step 5: sample, approve, repeat

Samples go to you for approval before repeat orders are scheduled. Repeat orders start at a minimum quantity per style, typically 50 pieces produced and paid together in one run, and we can hold stock and split-ship it.

Brass furniture fittings supplier: what else we make

Beyond feet, legs and drawer pulls, we make solid brass knobs, gate pulls and long handles in brass or stainless 304, and custom handles made from a finished sample. We export from India and quote EXW, FOB or delivered.

Solid brass or stainless: choosing the material

Solid brass is dense, takes a mirror polish and develops a natural patina with use, which is why furniture makers specify it for feet, legs and pulls. For outdoor use or a cooler look, gate pulls and long handles can also be made in stainless steel. Tell us where the piece will be used and how it will be handled, and we will recommend the material and the lacquer or finish that suit it.
