Custom flatware manufacturer for private label and OEM programmes

A brand that wants its own flatware has three options: buy a catalog pattern and put a label on it, adapt an existing pattern, or develop a new one from scratch. As a custom flatware manufacturer with our own factory in Moradabad, India, we handle all three. This page is for product developers, buyers and founders who are deciding how to start a private label flatware line and want to know what the process involves.

Three ways to start a custom flatware programme

Private label flatware: you choose an existing pattern from our catalogs, add your packaging and branding, and order. It is the fastest route and suits a first collection.

Adapted pattern: you take a catalog silhouette and change the handle, the finish, the proportions or the detailing. The catalog says a pattern is only held exclusive once its form and detailing have been changed.

New development: you bring a sketch, a photo or a physical reference piece, and we turn it into a sampled pattern.

What an OEM flatware manufacturer can customize

Shape and proportion: handle length and width, bowl and tine shape, the profile of the knife, and the weight of the piece.

Handle material: wood, bone, resin, marble, enamel and sculpted shapes, with the full list on the hammered flatware and handle materials page.

Finish: PVD colours or stainless surface finishes, covered on the gold and PVD flatware finishes page.

Surface detail: hammered, faceted and engraved handle fields, laser etching and textured surfaces.

Branding and packaging: logo marking where the handle has the surface for it, plus custom packaging and plain cartons if you prefer to apply your own labelling.

Set composition: place settings, serving sets, cheese tools, dessert pieces and caddy or stand sets built to your piece count.

How custom flatware development runs

Brief: send a sketch, reference photo or sample, the pieces you need, the finish and the handle material. The more you tell us about your customer and shelf price, the better we can steer the build.

Proposal: we suggest a construction, a finish and a handle, and flag where a choice will affect cost or lead time.

Sample: we make a sample for your review. Sampling is quoted separately, and we confirm the steel gauge at this stage.

Approval and adjustments: you approve or request changes. Production starts after sample approval.

Production: the handmade range runs 40 to 60 days from sample approval.

Private label flatware: packaging and exclusivity

Packaging is built to your retail or hospitality requirement, from presentation boxes to plain cartons. Exclusivity comes from amending the form and detailing, so decide early whether the line must be exclusive to you, and we will build that into the development.

Materials and compliance for your own label

Compliance points such as food-contact status, Proposition 65 and factory audits are listed on our flatware manufacturer page, so you can pass them to your retail customer. On steel, the catalogs name the grades we work with, and you should state the one your market expects when you brief us. For help choosing, see 18/10 vs 18/8 vs 18/0 flatware.

Why the factory matters for custom work

Custom flatware depends on tooling, finishing and plating working together. When your pattern needs a new handle, a new PVD colour and a new set of packaging at the same time, having our own factory, coordinated from New Delhi, means one team answers for the result. See how flatware is made for the stages involved.

Quantities and quotes

Quantities depend on how much is new. A pattern with a new handle material needs different quantities from a catalog pattern with a new label. Tell us the pieces and the quantity you are considering, and we quote against that. Expect a reply within 24 hours and a quote within 48.
